Hosting & Email Servers

Our website hosting services offer three distinct options and within those options there are a number of configurations to choose from - but don't panic, our hosting engineers help you choose which one you need.

Shared Server - Basic Hosting Services

Our most cost efficient hosting service for clients. Our shared servers provide the following as standard: ASP 3.0, IIS 5/6, PERL (CGI), some pre-installed ASP components (JMail, ASPUpload, ASPJpeg), IIS-style logs. There are three levels of shared server:

  • Easy: for simple ‘credential’ or ‘brochure-ware’ sites - comes with everything you need (website hosting, up-to 10 email addresses, POP3 access and webmail to your email) and everything you don’t (a hefty bill - this only costs £100 per annum).
  • Standard: for sites that need a little bit more than Easy - added features are : email aliases and mailing lists for up to 10 people, up-to 255 email addresses, webserver statistics delivered to your email and live online so you can interrogate them yourself. £180 per annum.
  • Advanced: for e-commerce sites - many more features - your site shares it’s server with just 50 other customers, the server hardware is to a higher specification including memory and processor speed, SSL is available (and a shared SSL certificate is included if you don’t wish to purchase your own), many more ASP components are available (a list is available from our support guys), as well as ASP 3.0 we also give you the opportunity to use ASP.NET (1.0 and/or 1.1), Webserver Statistics available through a web interface or delivery of your raw log files. This server is also supplied with redundant network connections (at least two different providers), daily backups, and 30MB of Microsoft SQL Server 200 space, 4 GB bandwidth per month.

Virtual Dedicated Server - for that little bit more control

Need more power, fine. All of our Virtual Dedicated Servers (VDS) come with 400GB bandwidth - unmetered. Yes, you heard that right, a whole 400GB of bandwidth - you can almost transfer as much as you want. Each VDS has a maximum number of other users, like yourself. Starting at 15 per VDS, and coming down to a maximum of 6.

Choose from a selection of hardware specifications - the minimum amount of RAM and the speed of the CPU. All VDS are preinstalled with at least: Fedora (Redhat) Linux, Plesk 7 Control Panel, Root user access, Apache, PHP, Perl, Mod_Perl, CGI, Python, Bind, ProFTP, QMail, SSL, Horde, MySQL, Crontab, Full DNS/Email/IP/Backup Management, Webalizer, Web-Based FTP, phpMyAdmin. Optional add-on's - managed backup, managed firewall, monitoring, extra static IPs (standard is 2). All servers are located in a dedicated Data Centre with thermal controls, network redundancy (6 network providers) and dedicated 24hr support staff.

If you want dedicated network connectivity we can also offer combinations of 5Mbit, 10Mbit or 100 Mbit ingress/outgress all as add-ons. As an example of our costs, as there are so many options, here's two different VDS specifications:

  • 2GB filespace, min. RAM 96MB, max. RAM 2GB, 2 Static IP addresses, 400GB bandwidth per month, minimum CPU rate dedicated to you is 100Mhz, max of 15 VDS users. Cost to you - £25 pcm. Month to month contract.
  • 20GB filespace, min. RAM 320MB, max. 2GB, 2 Static IP addresses, 400GB bandwidth per month, min. CPU rate dedicated to you is 500Mhz, max of 6 VDS users, Managed Backup (daily/weekly) option, Managed Firewall option, Monitoring. Cost to you - £105 pcm. Month to month contract.

Dedicated Server - for the demanding user

Our top of the line solutions are for demanding clients who need every processor cycle they can get! These servers are customised to your specifications. All the options on initial builds are the same as for VDS - except that obviously there is no-one else using the server apart from yourself. We also recommend for Java/XML websites that you seriously consider a Dedicated Server over our VDS offering, as Java is processor hungry and needs everything it can get. Unlike VDS, Dedicated offers non-RAID/RAID and UDMA/SCSI combinations of storage devices, large amounts of RAM, one or more processor (P4, Xeon or AMD) and our same Bandwidth options starting with unmetered 400GB. There is even the choice of operating system - Fedora, Redhat 9/Enterprise, Debian, SUSE, FreeBSD. Prices start at a moderate £130 pcm - yes, we did say that. All come on a month-to-month contract.
